Every year in Las Vegas 24 amateur golfers from the UK play against 24 amateur golfers in the US in a Ryder Cup type Match. To qualify as a representative for the Match there are regional qualifiers and then Regional Finals. This year 2 golfers from the Manor of Groves entered the regional qualifier at the The Hertfordshire and successfully won through to a Regional Finals day at the Forest of Arden.
So in the early hours of the 15th October, the 2 MOG members ventured up the M11, A14 and M6 to the Forest of Arden. Playing off ¾ handicaps the 2 golfers accepted the challenge the Arden Course had to offer and posted a healthy looking joint stableford score of 70 pts. The 2 golfers then sat in the bar and waited and waited and waited, until the final fourball posted their scores.
So congratulations to the 2 Manor of Groves Members who will be representing their club and country in Las Vegas from the 13th to the 20th January 2008; yes its them 2 again, with their respective score in the brackets, congratulations to Mark Riley (34) and Colin McDonald (36).
